While we are on this earth, we humans have had a tremendous impact on our environment, both good and bad. Unfortunately, humans have had more of a negative impact than a positive one, especially when it comes to the state of our world's forests. We cut down trees furiously to create more space for the growing human population. While this may seem perfectly acceptable to many people, this deprives the animals of our planet of their home and food, which is why many species of animals and plants are becoming extinct. A great example of a critically endangered animal is the Cottontail Tamarin, which is very close to extinction due to the decline of forest areas in South America, where the tamarin lives. Fortunately, many projects have been created to protect this majestic primate. A well-known conservation project is Proyecto Tití, or Project Tamarin in English, which is primarily centered in Colombia. This project, although not as popular as many others, has helped protect Cotton-top tamarins, which are one of the most endangered primates in the world, to an immense extent and continues to help local tamarins and villagers in the Colombia every year.Project Tamarin ExplainedProject Tamarin is a unique conservation project combining field research with educational and community programs, located in Colombia.
