Health is an important issue in the United States, but Americans are primarily focused on the health of the younger population. While the younger population is important, it would do no harm if Americans took time and focused on the older population. In other words, Americans should pay homage to our senior citizens, because without their wisdom and experience there wouldn't be much to appreciate. Older citizens are often the backbone of society. According to the World Health Organization website, “The world is aging rapidly. While this is a major challenge for the developed world, 70% of all older people now live in low- or middle-income countries. Population aging is also occurring much more rapidly in these countries. This means they will have a much shorter opportunity to build the infrastructure needed to address this demographic trend” (Our Aging World). Now that the elderly population is increasing, the main attention should be paid to the elderly and spend more time taking care of their needs. If so, Americans need to take the well-being of the elderly more seriously rather than dismissing it as a non-factor. Older adults have an impact on today's society.
