I feel quite humble that Child R felt quite comfortable telling me something that he must have found immensely difficult as he has a strong sense of loyalty to his family. Reflecting on it now I realize that this level of relationship was established because I was constantly using the techniques of Person Centered Practice. I would spend time listening to Child R so I could better understand how he was feeling. I feel like Child R liked being the center of attention and liked being treated as an equal, as from what I've been told Child R rarely experiences these things. Furthermore, not only did Child R reveal something to me, but he always made a concentrated effort to meet with me and informed me that he found the meeting helpful. I therefore assume that Child R must have seen me as genuine or "congruent" and understood that my only intention was to work in his best interests (Maclean and Harrison,
