The vast majority of society feared the monster under the bed or in the closet. Maybe they were just afraid of the dark and strange noises when they were home alone. These are common fears that children have growing up. What is fear? Is everyone afraid? Does fear control your life? Is it possible to control fear? Fear is something everyone experiences in life. Fear is a part of life. According to the Oxford Dictionary, “fear is an unpleasant emotion triggered by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, may cause pain, or pose a threat.” Fear is experienced by everyone and is an inevitable emotion. The fear can be overwhelming, especially if someone suffers from a phobia that can disrupt their way of life. Fear is such a powerful feeling. It is all around us and is felt in every corner of the world. Fear is not only negative, but can also be positive, which is related to the fact that fears are rational and irrational. Fear is an emotion that has a negative reputation, but in reality positive fear prevails over negative fear. Society as a whole fears many things such as death, illness, age, obligations, pain, responsibility, weight, sexuality, government and many other things. Some fears are practical and rational, such as carrying pepper spray while walking to your car at night or turning on all the lights in a house when you are left alone. The amount and range of fears vary from person to person, but the emotion is the same. Fear is something we have all experienced, and some people label it as an undesirable or uncomfortable feeling. Fear can be accumulated over a long period of time or appear on the spot. Fear can be produced because of a bad prank in your childhood or because you had a difficult childhood. Fear is everywhere and in each of us, it is... at the center of the card... a better life. Np, May 16, 2012. Web. December 2, 2013. .Stuart, Annie. "Children's Health". Childhood fears and anxieties.
