Wart's tutor, Merlyn, uses this exact learning method on Wart. Merlin uses magic to transform Wart into various animals to show him important life lessons. Wart transforms into a fish, a goose, and a badger to experience different forms of power, each of which is part of how he should rule as king. Wart learns from Mr. P that the power of the mind is nothing, from the wild goose he learns freedom, and the badger teaches him to accept what you have. When Wart transforms into a fish he meets the owner of the moat, Mr. P. When Wart approached Mr. P, he sensed great danger due to his enormous size and strength. Mr. P began to share his outlook on life: “There is only power. Power belongs to the individual mind, but the power of the mind is not enough” (52). With this comment, Mr. P shows Wart the importance of physical power over minds. Wart is so amazed by what Mr. P said that he remains speechless and immobile....
