Both authors want what is best for society at large, which they believe are individuals who are “socially well-adjusted and educated citizens who are industrious…[ and] benefits society” (Radio par. 1) by creating a stronger workforce This issue is not only important to the future of each student, but over time has become the focus of parents seeking to ensure the absolute best education for their children. As Cox found, “a growing number of parents are recognizing the battle being waged for the hearts and minds of their children” (Cox p. 34) and it is important that their children are equipped with the best hearts and minds so that they can function effectively in society. Both authors of these articles have acquired advanced education which may explain their bias towards the importance of education proves that education is one of the factors responsible for the success of a nation. Workers who are able to “enter the workforce equipped with the same basic education” after graduation are one step ahead of those who have not been able to meet those educational standards. While society claims to value education, it is evident that the educated population does not take serious action to actually keep public education as a goal in the hands of politicians.
