There are many different dystopian sci-fi films out there. Dystopian science fiction is usually about the problem at hand in that society and seeks to prompt action from the audience. V for Vendetta is no different than other dystopian science fiction films. V for Vendetta (adapted from a comic book series of the same name written by Alan Moore) is a 2005 dystopian science fiction film with an adequate amount of action. this film was directed by James McTeigue and the screenplay was written by Andy and Lana Wachowski, also known as The Wachowski Brothers (all known for their work on the Matrix series). The film's budget was approximately $54 million and the film grossed approximately $132,511,035 worldwide. The film is set in the late 1920s in the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is governed by a fascist government led by the High Chancellor who tries to "protect" the people by constantly monitoring citizens and getting rid of unwanted people (homosexuals, Muslims, political opponents and terrorists) by locking people up or executing them. The film centers on V (played by Hugo Weaving), a man under the Guy Fawkes mask who is trying to bring down the fascist government using terrorist tactics, and Evey (played by Natalie Portman), a woman who V saves and ultimately becomes his ally. . They work together to take down the oppressive government one person at a time and try to show the British people that what the government is doing to them is not right. This movie is phenomenal and would be great for college age people, ages 18-22, because it has intense action scenes, an offbeat romance between V and Evey, and a message that makes audiences think even after they finished. the movie.College age......middle of paper......I also like the unusual love story between V and Evey. Evey wants to love the man behind the mask, but V doesn't believe it's really him. This contradiction leads Evey to leave V and V to become very upset. The important thing is that the audience leaves the film with a message. That message is that you must take action against oppression and if you don't it's your fault if you lose freedom, privacy and freedom. Some people believe that V's soft side makes it less great. This is not true because it makes him bigger by showing the audience that he is a normal human being with emotions, and the audience connects with V on a deeper level. This is a fantastic film with a strong message. Even though this film is a century old, it still proves to show what needs to be changed. Sometimes change is necessary for a society to thrive and become a better place.
