Topic > Setting Goals: Successes and Failures on the Road to…

Setting goals is a critical component to long-term success. The fundamental reason for this is that you can't get where you're trying to go until you clearly define where it is. Therefore, my goal for the year is to eat healthier. By eating healthier I mean eating more fruits and vegetables and eliminating carbs and sweets from my diet. However, even with your goals clearly defined and written down, you may encounter obstacles on the path to achieving your goals. It is natural that we will have successes and setbacks in every journey. However, how we handle them determines whether we will reach our final destination. My three obstacles are my family who are a bad influence as they eat unhealthy like me, I don't have time to cook healthy meals, and social outings and events with my friends. My family tends to cook unhealthy traditional meals and my relatives usually get offended if they don't eat their traditional meals. Parents play a fundamental role as family policy makers. More importantly, they make decisions about what foods are available at home, where and when foods can be consumed in the home, and child allowances. I was raised by a single mother, so financial and time constraints, as well as the stress and challenges of daily life, made it difficult for us to eat healthily. This caused me to grow up with unhealthy choices as my mother wasn't always able to cook, which only gave her the option of ordering food delivery. I've gotten into this bad habit of ordering food when I'm unable to cook, which makes it harder for me to stay healthy. I work full time and am a full time college student, so I don't have time to go to the kitchen and make myself a decent, healthy meal. This… middle of the paper… will achieve my goal and encourage me to strive for that goal. Finally, I will use social support to provide me with the encouragement I need from others to achieve my goal. By surrounding myself with others who support my goal, I will have the drive and drive that will allow me to achieve my goal. To implement my plan tomorrow, I will eliminate all unhealthy food from my apartment and leave myself with only healthy food options. Works Cited Fishbach, A., & Zhang, Y. (2008).
