Two of the essential attributes of religion are faith and worship. Since the textbook explains the Mosaic covenant, the Ten Commandments, not the commitments and precepts for an engaging Buddhism, one can understand that there is not only a similarity but also a difference in each of the principles. In the beginning, the Mosaic Covenant talks about how God gave the Jews the Ten Commandments, as an individual further reads the textbook they may encounter Michael Learner's interpretation of the Ten Commandments. Both explain the instructions and guidelines given by God to his people, but with his intention Michael Learner's work describes the Ten Commandments differently. For example, from the Mosaic covenant: “Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.” (Judaism, page 397) This quote states the fourth commandment regarding the Sabbath day. From the student's perspective, “Keeping the Sabbath” (Judaism, p. 422) explains a different interpretation but the same concept of the Mosaic covenant. Second, Thich Nhat Hanh's Precepts for Engaging Buddhism has a different understanding of guidelines, but all fourteen precepts explain similar values to the Mosaic Covenant and Student writings. All fourteen principles solve life's problems by avoiding bad causes. For example: “Fourteenth: Don't mistreat your body. Learn to handle it with respect.
