Food as Medicine For a long time, man has recognized the benefits of food for health. However, with the development of chemical drugs and pills, they have forgotten that the food they eat is directly linked to their health. In fact, foods are the best medicines and therefore we should carefully consider how we perceive and use them. First, choosing the right diet and the right food to eat can help improve your health and body function. Secondly, using food to provide health benefits is now a norm, and scientists are eager to create foods that can fight disease. Not surprisingly, there are some similarities and differences in opinions about the health benefits of foods between two different generations. And last but not least, foods with health benefits (nutraceuticals and functional foods) have been industrialized, which has raised concerns about how the government should regulate them. We are what we eat, the foods we consume in every single meal have a significant impact on our health and health. therefore it can be used as medicine. Healthy diets are directly linked to good health. It is because human bodies need food to function properly, if the food is not good enough, our functions are disrupted. For example, eating foods with a high glycemic index (the rate of carbohydrate digestion) can lead to a sudden rise or fall in blood sugar, which is thought to increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and obesity (Ghartey & Nembhard, 2013). On the other hand, consuming unsaturated fatty acids, found in plant sources, such as olive oil, nuts and soybeans, can improve health. This is because unsaturated fatty acids increase the level of HDL cholesterol which picks up excess LDL cholesterol......middle of paper......D. (2013). Nutrition and healthy eating.
