"Sugar We're Going Down"Fall Out Boypp. 75-76I chose "Sugar We're Going Down" because Atticus decides to defend Tom Robinson. Lines 9 and 10 say, “We're going down, down in a previous round and, baby, we're going down swinging.” This relates to the book as Atticus knows he will lose the case but will do his best because he knows it is the right thing to do."Landslide"Fleetwood Macp. 115-117Lines 10 through 13 of the song "Landslide" talk about how things change and "kids get older." Scout is bothered by how his brother is changing because he is getting older. She realizes how much she misses Dill and that her life has changed and their relationship has changed too. Another change addressed in these pages is that not everyone agrees with his father defending Tom Robinson."Forever Your Girl"Paula Abdulp.116The first 4 lines of the song "Forever Your Girl" relate to the book because Scout and Dill they think they will always be together. “Dill would reach over and kiss me when Jem wasn't looking.” Furthermore, in a letter Dill wrote to her, "he concluded by saying that he would love me forever and that he would not worry, he would come and get me and marry me as soon as he got enough money together." "Two Worlds" Phil Collinsp. 119When Calpurnia is questioned by Lula about taking Scout and Jem to a black church, Jem says, "'Let's go home, Cal, they don't want us here.'" Zeebo, a black man who attends the church, says: "'We're really happy to have you all here. Don't pay any attention to Lula...she's a long-time troublemaker, has imaginative ideas and haughty ways.'" Even though it's a black church, the majority of the congregation welcomes white children. This is identified with line 10 of "Two Worlds". “It's the end of the world as we know it” DC Talkp. 127, 131-132When Aunt Alexandra says, "'Your father and I decided it was time for me to come stay with you for a while,'" Scout and Jem know that she will make new rules and run the house her way. “Aunt Alexandra fit into Maycomb's world like a hand into a glove, but never into Jem's and my world.” Aunt Alexandra has very different ideas than Atticus about raising children, especially girls, and Scout knows she will have to change to please her aunt...
