On June 26, 2013, Ann Slick asked Sam Blunt on a date. Mrs. Slick is the manager of a local grocery store who appears to be in charge of hiring, firing, and decisions. Mr. Blunt agreed to accompany Ms. Slick to Taco Bell on Friday evening, June 28. Mr. Blunt is a Customer Service Representative, an employee responsible for providing customers with great customer service. From Mr. Blunt's point of view, the date does not end well. On Monday, July 1, Ms. Slick asked to go out with Mr. Blunt on another date. Mr Blunt denied her request to go on another appointment. Ms Slick asked Mr Blunt four more times to accompany her on a date. After Ms. Slick's fifth and final request on July 24, Ms. Slick allegedly said to Mr. Blunt: "What, are you gay or something?" Mr Blunt replied "No". he felt very uncomfortable to the point of feeling sexually harassed by the store manager. Mr Blunt had never touched her or spoken to her inappropriately. On July 26, Mrs. Slick, Jan Fox and Ben Carrol were talking during their lunch break. Mrs. Slick commented that "Tom has some sugar in the tank." Ms. Fox asked Ms. Slick to elaborate. Ms. Slick allegedly said, "I think he's gay." Ms. Fox reportedly replied to Ms. Slick, “Absolutely not.” After lunch, Ms. Slick began making sexual comments, offering sex and often asking Mr. Blunt to walk her out to the front of the shop. She would yell at him in front of all her friends and passersby for no real reason. For example, Mrs. Slick would ask Mr. Blunt for a tour of the store aisle. This went on for about four months and then, while Mr Blunt was working one Sunday, Mrs Slick told Mr Blunt that all he had to do was wink at her ... middle of paper ... ..at the Government . Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states that discrimination against workers on the basis of sex is illegal. Although Title VII of the Civil Acts of 1964 is based on sex, sexual harassment is a form of gender discrimination. The Civil Rights Acts of 1991 are also in place to "provide adequate remedies for intentional discrimination and unlawful harassment in the workplace," which includes sexual harassment. Some examples include unwanted sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, teasing and pranks. Some of the key concepts that can go alone with this are Quid Pro Quo statuses that exchange sexual favors for career advancement. Therefore, this can result in a hostile environment where sexual harassment contributes to a negative atmosphere in which the employee feels uncomfortable and negatively impacts his or her productivity in the workplace..
