Topic > Identity: A Personal Journey of Self-Discovery

People say that when you're young, you're a sponge, absorbing all the experiences around you and trying to come to terms with what constitutes a healthy life. Reflecting on the events of my life, this idea seems truer than ever. When I was born, I was immediately introduced to the idea of sharing, because I was, and am, a twin. Later in my life, when I was four years old, my family and I went to a beach where my parents hid three crates in the sand. After finding the chests, my brother took the first one, my sister took the second one, and I took the third one, because I was waiting for them to take theirs first. This is most likely due to the way I was raised in my early years and the way I had to live my life, because I constantly had to share or wait my turn. Upon opening the chests, we discovered that the third one was filled with more "treasures" than the other two, which only further solidified the idea that sharing and being kind benefits those who do so, because in the end I ended up with more stuff. Now, while this event may have made me a better person, and this event made me who I am, there are also many other events that make me who I am.
