High School vs. College As we move forward in life, we face many challenges and new situations that we deal with. A new situation that most people are dealing with is college and all the changes that come with it. What many people don't realize is that high school, in many ways, is both similar and different from college. Not only do people change, but the environment and work also change. There are some things that never seem to change, like jobs and people. Most of the work in college is very similar to that of high school. An example would be critical thinking tasks. In that class you have to rewrite a sentence that is incorrect and correct it. In high school I had to do the same thing in my English class. The documents are also similar; in high school I would have to write term papers all the time, just like in college. In the World Culture course you have to answer the questions throughout the book. In high school you had to do the same; you should read the book and answer the questions. The biggest difference from high school to college is the level of responsibility you take on. When you're in high school, teachers tend to watch what you do and chase you for an assignment you didn't do.1 College is different; the only person who makes sure your work gets done is you.1 No professor chases a student into work and monitors everything you do; they correct the documents and tell you what's wrong. The student is responsible for whether or not to do the work. 2 Time management is something everyone needs to develop in college. In high school you have a usual routine that you follow, day by day. At university there are usually a few classes a day or maybe back-to-back classes.1 S...... middle of paper ...... it's a good chance you'll see people over and over again. As people going through life they will face changes every day and will also see similar things to the past. When people go to college they tend to relate to this, they face a lot of similarities and differences compared to high school. The differences between high school and college seem to be on a larger scale, such as life and responsibilities. Differences seem to change people, mostly for the better. People learn as life goes on; college helps do this because it shows people the new differences that people need to change to adapt to a new stage in life. Works Cited1.
