A Saint is a person recognized as holy or virtuous and considered in the Christian faith as if he were in heaven after death. Saints are important to Catholics as they are role models and inspire young people that they are part of the Kingdom of God who lived as Jesus taught. During their lives they showed many virtues and performed many good deeds. They all dedicated their lives to Christ and performed many miracles. My Saint is Saint Clare of Assisi. She became a saint by dedicating her life to Christ, doing many good things for others, especially the poor, and performing many miracles. One of the miracles was to heal the sick by making the sign of the cross over them. Most of St. Clare's education took place in the Cathedral, which was her local church, not far from her home. Since she was a child and young woman, Chiara was known as a person dedicated to prayer, obedient to her parents, generous and compassionate towards the poor. He had heard a young man, Saint Francis of Assisi, preach in the squares of Assisi, and as soon as he saw him he decided to live the Gospel more completely. Then she went to a convent and found the order of Franciscan women, who became known as the “Polar Sisters,” or simply “Poor Clares.” Saint Clare was born on July 16, 1194 in Assisi, Italy. Her full name was Chiara Offreduccio and she had two younger sisters, Agnese and Beatrice. She was the founder of an order now called “Clarisse” and her feast day is August 11th. She was one of the first followers of Saint Francis and the first woman in the history of the Church to produce a written Rule, approved by the Pope.
