How the Gates Foundation Reduces Poverty“We all have the chance to create a world where extreme poverty is the exception rather than the rule and where all children have the same chances to prosper, no matter where they were born” (Guacci). The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was born in 1997 when the Gates family read an article about the millions of children dying of diseases in poor countries. Since then they have worked to reduce poverty and ill health around the world and to create a better world for both future and present generations. The Gates Foundation is one of the few truly transparent organizations in the world where no money ends up in the pockets of the founders. The foundation's two founders are Bill Gates, who is co-president and trustee, and his wife Melinda Gates, who is also co-president and trustee. Other directors include Warren Buffet and William Gates Sr. Many others work for the organization either as permanent staff or as volunteers. We will look at their key areas of interest, strategies and objectives. We will also look at how they make grants and their overall effectiveness ("Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation"). The Gates Foundation focuses primarily on trying to reduce poverty and improve health in developing countries, as well as addressing the failures of the American education system. system. They have many strategies to reduce global poverty and an overall goal to connect people digitally. This essay examines their work in reducing global poverty ("Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation"). The Gates Foundation is trying to change that. Poverty is something that may take many years to overcome, but with the Gates Foundation leading the way, I am confident that we can do it.
