This is a legitimate concern that Americans should have, no one would want criminals and "crooks", in a sense, living in the country, but most of these accusations against illegal immigrants are fake. Illegal immigrants are not entitled to welfare, food stamps, Medicaid and other public benefits. According to Maria Santana, in her article “5 Immigration Myths Debunked,” she states that “noncitizen immigrant adults and children are about 25 percent less likely to enroll in Medicaid than their poor native-born equivalents and are also 37 % less likely to receive food stamps, according to a 2013 study by the Cato Institute" (Santana). So in reality immigrants don't "drain the system at all." Another concern was that it was just a matter of following the law that illegals can obtain citizenship in the United States. However, America makes it very difficult for illegal immigrants to obtain citizenship. There are only a few options for immigrants, and these options often come with high costs and the wait can be very long.
