Mrs. Pollard and Mrs. Davidson used the management technique of walking a lot during class. This allowed them to observe the entire class and notice details that perhaps would not have been seen if they had simply stood in front of the class. Mr. Leonhardt used his students' names a lot. This served as positive reinforcement for students when they were doing good work, and was also a way for them to know that they wouldn't get away with bad behavior. This was because the teacher's act of using their names to direct comments towards specific people almost made it seem like he saw and noticed everything that was going on. All three teachers also highlighted the importance of using more positive, rather than negative, language. This is effective because it lets students know what they should do or continue to do, instead of constantly reminding them what not to do. Students definitely responded better to the teacher's positive comments, especially if their names were specifically mentioned as students who were doing what they were supposed to do
