Topic > Is being gay ok? - 890

Most people are raised in a society where being homosexual is not acceptable. Although LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) people are increasingly accepted, they are still considered "wrong" by many people and places. A big argument is that being gay is “unnatural”, however, homosexuality has been found to be practiced in over 1,500 animal species such as giraffes, lions, and several monkey species. We believe that anti-homosexual hatred should decrease and gay rights should increase. Homosexuality dates back to times before the Bible was even written. Some examples of references to homosexuality in the Bible are found in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13, and Romans 1:26-27. The Bible, however, says nothing about two women being together. The reason for this is that back then men usually married more than one woman (this is still happening, as it is a cultural normality for some cultures). In many cultures, being gay is unacceptable. We believe that violence and hatred against homosexuality must decrease dramatically. Gay bullying, gay bullying and hate crimes are very popular when it comes to hating homosexual people. Every year, LGBT people of all ages die from suicide, injury or homicide. From 1999 to 2010, the Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System, part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention program, says suicide is the third leading cause (4,600 deaths) of death among young people aged between 15 and 24. In 2011 there were 1,572 victims who suffered hate crimes based on sexual orientation.
