The Metropolitan Museum is the largest art museum in the United States and one of the largest in the world. On my way to the museum I found myself wondering how I can choose three artifacts from nearly a million different relics. After spending countless hours wandering the three-story museum and observing the vast amount of artifacts, I found myself overwhelmed with inspiration to write this analysis. The only dilemma was how to narrow the selection to three relics among hundreds of thousands. After a while I chose the three relics that I found interesting, spiritual and that showed significance in modern and ancient history. The three wrecks I will talk about in this essay are the following; Family tree, robe of the twelve symbols of the Emperor and finally men's shirt, these three artefacts show in my opinion how God, spirit and the universe are all reflected on the individual who wears the clothes/stories painted on him. Before talking about the relics I would like to find during this trip, I would first like to reflect on the experience I had during this trip. I found this trip to the Metropolitan Museum very interesting, as it had a huge amount of memorabilia from all over the world and from different eras throughout the museum. The only area I found fascinating was the Asian area of the museum. I found this area very interesting because it contained a wide range of artifacts and much of the work seemed to speak to you spiritually and mentally. I found it very easy to look through these collections without having to look at the description. The collection that I found extraordinary was the room of the Emperor's robes. This was by far the most fascinating part of the trip, because each one was designed for different events or ceremonies...... middle of paper ......it helped me understand how it revolves around God, universe and to our spirit almost every aspect of our lives, now and in the past. Two of the three artifacts I chose were from the Asian area, because it was one of the areas I liked to explore while at the museum. The museum claimed that emperors were children of heaven, which caught my attention, so I did some further research and found an article that supports my opinion on how spiritual ancient China was. The article states the following: “it is stipulated that a ruler must be wise and just, follow the Dao – the way of Heaven – and be in tune with destiny.” (Chan & Li, 2012, P. xx-xx) This supports my analysis about the universe, God and spirit are in everything we do, and in particular we find in these artifacts that help understand how they represent the associated individual to the universe. relics.
