I agree that Tom Robinson is a mockingbird in the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” as he had a good character, was totally innocent but was misunderstood by the rest of Maycomb due to the color of its skin, much like the description of the thrush as "innocent, misunderstood and victimized". Firstly, Tom Robinson is a representation of a mockingbird as he was accused of raping Mayella Ewell, which he did not, in the novel. It was similar to the mockingbird in the sense that both were innocent. Tom Robinson wasn't guilty, he just tried to help Mayella Ewell out of kindness, saying he actually "felt really sorry for her", despite her being white. Tom was a man who never hurt anyone, and even risked his own safety to help Mayella, trying not to hurt her physically even when she seduced him, but rather ran away because he didn't want to hurt her in any way . The evidence produced during the trial was more than enough to prove that Tom Robinson was not guilty of the rape, thus proving that he was innocent and free of suspicion, but that he should bear the blame for committing the rape.. ...
