A Profitable Home Recording Studio for $10,000 Starting a business can be scary, and investing in a home recording studio is no exception. There are many things to consider when doing this. How much does it cost? What equipment will I need? What recording work will I undertake? What will I charge? How will I network and advertise? I believe I can open a profitable home studio for $10,000 by combining my skills and the equipment I already own. Before I delve too deeply I need to discuss some hypotheses about the situation. The first assumption is that I will be a homeowner or at least a renter when I pursue this business venture. If I proposed that this studio could exist in my current residence it would be an immediate failure. The second assumption is that I won't need my record business to pay the rent. I currently have a job and it is large enough to pay for my house or rent. The next important element is how I intend to make money with this business. But before we do that, I think we need to discuss pricing and why my price will be as low as it was in the beginning. My goal (at least initially) is to earn at least the same amount of money per hour as I do at my day job. This equates to approximately $10 dollars an hour. As many know, this is nothing for registration. There are a few reasons for this. The first is that as a beginner I will most likely not be able to work as fast as someone who has been in the industry for many years and records daily. It would be pointless to charge half as much as an experienced professional when I work and make decisions three times slower. Of course this will change over time as my speed and proficiency improves, but for now this is what I need to do. Another......middle of paper......in a band I have many opportunities to meet other bands and promote my business. I'm also thinking about starting another live audio business and this will be a great opportunity to meet more potential clients. I will also be aggressive with networking, going to more shows and putting myself out there more wherever needed. Of course my website will be available and I will try to build a web presence. In conclusion, I believe I have made a pretty reasonable case for a profitable $10,000 studio. As you can see from the graphs above, according to my budget I have $620 dollars to spend. I could just spend this money on junk food. I actually know that there are many expenses that are difficult to account for and this money would be ideal for just that. This plan only works if you have a strong work ethic and aggressive business tactics. I think I have both of these aspects.
