Extreme Political PolarizationThe political climate today is becoming increasingly turbulent as Republicans and Democrats battle for superiority in Washington. The two parties are becoming more polarized by the hour, and this is affecting the government's ability to move forward and pass laws and continue to make America better. The Senate is in a state of stalemate on some of the most important issues to the people of the United States to date, yet popularly elected senators are instead involved in fighting the people on the other side of the aisle. They should listen to what their constituents need and want. Today, Republican senators use filibusters, scare tactics, and even entire news networks to distort the truth and continue government stagnation. The United States has hosted many political parties in the past, but the most powerful and prominent are the Democrats and Democrats. Republican parties have dominated presidential elections since 1852. The Democratic Party, which came to power last year, has majorities in both the House and Senate, as well as holding the executive office. Before the 2009 elections, the Republican Party had been in power for eight years, managing in that time to destroy what was once a two hundred billion dollar surplus, estimated by the Congressional Budget Office as early as the year 2009. Instead, when it came to power in 2008, the Democratic Party inherited a ten trillion dollar deficit, as well as a failing economy and two wars. During the eight years that Republicans were in power, Democrats in both the House and Senate had continued to work with Republicans to pass legislation such as large tax cuts, bans on... half of the paper... majority in the House and in the Senate, as well as in the Executive Office. Although the outlook seems bleak, there are some grassroots movements of Internet-savvy American intellectuals and young people. They have begun to fight back against widespread propaganda, with websites like the Huffington Post, and comedy news outlets like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report starting to expose the blatant lies spread by Republicans. Other Democratic movements have also begun to show how corrupt Republicans have become and how this extreme polarization has harmed America and its people. Obama continues to maintain a friendly attitude towards Republicans and promotes bipartisanship. Only time will tell whether the American people will ultimately see through the deception and allow this country to move forward in a way that benefits everyone..
