The village was very close. We could already see the first houses on the right and left of the road. It was a small village, with a main street and a square. A large leafy lime tree, whose little flowers gave off a fragrant scent in summer, occupied the center of the square. The village had a school and a church, a small pub and a post office, a bakery and a butcher's shop, and Mrs Lilliweather's shop where you could buy everything you needed and much more. Twinkle always went to Mrs. Lilliweather first. She was a kind old woman and loved animals very much. After the unfortunate incident at the bakery, when Mrs. Clomp, the baker's rude wife, had insulted Charlie, Twinkle always left her animals with Mrs. Lilliweather. With her they were in good hands. Not just because she liked animals, but because of Mrs. Lilliweather's big secret. No one except Twinkle knew his secret. Mrs. Lilliweather was a retired fairy. Being a fairy, even a retired one, made it easy for her to protect Twinkle's animals. Before meeting Mrs. Lilliweather, Twinkle didn't even know retired fairies existed. Mrs. Lilliweather had been a weather fairy for many years before deciding to retire. But it was still able to cope with hail or storm, snow or rain, or make the sun shine for a few hours. Most of the time, however, she pretended to be a simple shopkeeper. Many years ago, when Twinkle had just arrived in Bavaria and was sad and lonely, Mrs. Lilliweather had made the sun shine strong and warm in the dead of winter, just for cheer, shine. Another day he let the rain fall on the baker's wife. It was then that Twinkle realized she was a true friend. Lilliweather's store was the tenth house on the left of the street. He had a… half a sheet… er. I heard him talking to someone the other day. He said he was looking for your house. He wanted to teach you and your animals a lesson. «Twinkle felt a chill creep into his heart, very slowly, like a snail, and nestle between his ribs. “He can't find the house,” she said. “The clearing is well hidden. I'm not good at most of the spells I use, but I'm good at protective spells. I find it terrible to think that anyone would do anything bad to my animals or to me." "Every time I see him, I let it hail and storm, so he has to run back to his old dingy house." Twinkle came home from her round of shopping with Charlie and Alfie, she was happy and cheerful. She couldn't stop thinking about Storm and Grobbers.
