Motivation is a force that helps people be persistent and not fail. When people are motivated and persistent about what they want, their goals are more likely to be achieved. Sometimes people get frustrated, but they should keep moving forward. Based on the reading, self-motivation is the strength of self-control that allows a person to move forward and pursue worthwhile goals, persist in tasks even when feeling frustrated, and resist the temptation to act on impulse, not only that, but also the ability delaying immediate gratification and being persistent in working towards greater future earnings are more closely linked to success. This part really caught my attention because I think it's true. When someone is persistent, small rewards are good but they are not enough because there are bigger and better ones. This is how people learn to motivate themselves to achieve bigger goals in life. I believe when someone acts with impulse they can still achieve goals but people are called conformists, they are good with whatever they get. In contrast, motivated people achieve long-term goals. In a "Ted Talk" video Joachim de Posada, better known as the co-author of the book "Don't Eat the Marshmallow," which is a test where you give children a marshmallow and tell them that if in fifteen minutes they can eat resist eating it, they'll get another one later. This test shows that there are more children who did not eat marshmallows
