Every day, millions of people around the world take the plane to reach their destination. They have allowed people to travel to exotic places or simply given the ability for family members to see each other even if they are long distance. It is a convenient and effective means of transportation that continues to grow and has an unlimited future. Furthermore, they are a structure with the potential to do a lot of good in this world and are a gift to all. However, like most gifts, someone wants to abuse it. Unfortunately, over the past decade, airplanes have become the focus of inhumane threats and dangers that should never have occurred. On top of this, those who care for the planes we fly on do not monitor them as fully as they should, which makes the threat and danger levels even higher. To stop the dangers, airports and airlines have mainly focused on securing airports, which helps a lot, but they have left the planes themselves exposed to errors and attacks. As a second safety measure, airlines should focus not only on the safety and security of the airport, but also on the safety and security of the aircraft, emphasizing hard maintenance, developing an emergency autopilot system, ensuring staff having access to self-defense devices and having cameras and panic buttons positioned in key areas. As times have shown, airplanes can be very dangerous and even deadly if not properly cared for. “Every day single-engine planes, cargo planes and propeller planes are involved in accidents” and even a simple mistake in controlling an aircraft can cause one of these accidents (Lewis Tompkins). If a plane is already in the air when a problem occurs, there's not much that can be done to help... mid-paper... with more rigorous maintenance checks. Of course an accident like this might not be completely prevented by a more rigorous maintenance check, but no one can argue that it couldn't have helped. A maintenance check could have fixed the intake sensor, made sure everything was securely attached to the plane so it wouldn't fall, prevented anything from setting the plane on fire, and ensured the engine was running properly. It cannot be argued that if people do something so many times, i.e. check the plane, and every time everything seems fine, they eventually skip it or don't check it as thoroughly as they should. As soon as they do, problems arise, accidents occur, and more people die. Therefore, airlines should impose more frequent and rigorous maintenance checks in order to preserve lives, which should be the number one priority on anyone's list.
