Dr. Anderson has been able to successfully see a large number of patients per day, largely thanks to the help of staff members. Technicians perform preliminary tests on patients (including visual acuity tests and Optos imaging) and then direct patients to seats in the room. This patient flow opens up more chairs in the waiting room/dispensary and ensures that patients are ready to be seen by the doctor at the time of their appointment. Unfortunately, these chairs are located immediately outside the exam room, requiring the exam room doors to be completely closed for privacy reasons. Overall, this process was a creative way to increase the number of daily exams without increasing the number of exam courses needed. An additional piece of advice gained on practice management was Dr. Anderson's opinion on the importance and productivity of the tool. Recent optometry graduates must prioritize purchases due to high student debt and limited financing. Interestingly, Dr. Anderson claimed that the Optos retinal imaging tool was his favorite and most cost-effective tool. He explained that this technology offers a wow factor for patients, while reducing exam times. For routine non-medical exams, retinal imaging allows for a complete exam without dilation (an added benefit for patients too!). In addition, advanced technology allows for prolonged vision of the retina and provides the opportunity to
