In this phase you are asked to make changes, working on flow, reorganization, adding transitions, omitting repetitive information and invading more salient details, considering word choice, precision, and clarity. (MindEdge, Module One, English Composition One) The process of rewriting improves a student's writing because it makes you question things you thought you got right and make sure you have everything in the order they belong, making sure there are no errors minimal with your writing, however, at this stage is not the time to worry about errors in spelling, grammar, mechanics, usage, or punctuation that occur later in the writing process. The fourth stage of the writing process is proofreading: This is where you go line by line to edit every word, sentence, and punctuation mark. At this stage you will also want to check for grammatical, mechanical, punctuation, spelling and usage errors. It is also helpful to have a second pair of eyes for this stage from a colleague, colleague or family member so that if there are any errors they can catch them. This helps students because receiving criticism from someone else is very beneficial because you can miss small mistakes by focusing on your own writing
