According to Mueller-Hanson and Pulakos (2013), research has shown that performance management training should focus on educating managers to coach their employees to see the bigger picture. Managers should help their employees understand how their performance contributes to the overall success of the organization. Providing honest feedback and creating challenging roles to help employees is an integral part of performance management. Therefore, the training will be dedicated to helping managers acquire a higher level of skills in coaching and providing feedback. Performance management includes four main phases: strategic planning, execution, measurement/evaluation and rewards, and employee development. Each phase is vital for the success of the process; therefore, eliminating any of the stages could result in system failure. The training, however, will consist of a high-level overview of performance management, in an effort to help management understand the big picture
