One of the most eye-catching commercials on television lately has been an addition made by Extra Gum, called Origami Crane. It was created to sell Extra gum by connecting it to people's daily lives. This ad is a spot that lasts just over a minute and yet has the ability to connect so easily to people's lives. The main reason why add has the ability to connect so well with people is because it targets families, especially the daughters and fathers of these families. The ad shows that the company that creates extra chewing gum has families in mind while making ads. Not only have they kept their ad family friendly, which can sometimes be difficult to find, but they have also focused their ad more towards simple, everyday families while still having the ability to attract others who don't have families. Start the commercial outside with piano music in the background and no words. A girl and a man are sitting together on a bus. They open some more gum and as they chew it the man transforms the little girl into a tiny paper crane from the silver gum wrapper. The commercial continues to show that the man, who is the little girl's father, continues to make her paper cranes throughout her life. Which she happily accepts. This includes birthdays, game days, date nights, and even simply rainy days. He even makes her a paper crane when she's almost fully grown, and cries one night, just to show her that he's there for her. She accepts it and rests her head on his shoulder. Then the commercial shifts to the girl hugging her mother while her father loads her things into the back of a car. As she puts one of her boxes in the car, another small pink box falls to the ground on top of everything else. The father looks to see what is... in the middle of the paper... a beneficial factor for families. Family members felt a deeper feeling when they saw this gum in the stores, because in a way they were actually informed that this extra gum was the way to keep a family strong and happy. It seems that Extra Gum has chosen to use families as leverage to promote their product, because they know that almost everyone is part of a family and wants to have a wonderful, strong bond with their family. The Extra Gum company did a great job in promoting their brand of chewing gum to the viewers of this commercial. This father-daughter bonding ad told viewers that Extra Gum would not only help make their family happy, but would be there for the family when they needed gum. The ad also had the ability to inform its viewers that Extra gum was the longest-lasting chewing gum they could find, at the lowest price.
