This article summarizes my participation in two tours at the San Antonio Food Bank and Child Bereavement Center outlining their contributions and effectiveness as a customer reference. I then relate the referral process and information obtained from these resources to the text. On March 12, 2014, I took a private tour of the San Antonio Food Bank with Jennifer Epstein. She welcomed me right away and was receptive to my questions. She identified issues such as food insecurity and fear that could lead a client to seek assistance. He revealed that the San Antonio Food Bank was started in the early 1980s and has since grown into one of the most successful food banks in the nation. According to my tour guide facilitator Jennifer Epstein, the food bank accepts 56 million pounds of food annually, 1,000 volunteer hours weekly, and provides 18 culinary programs at no cost to the public.
