INTRODUCTION Since the beginning of time, people have wondered why we are here, how we got here, and where we came from. While many of these questions have not been answered, the question of where the universe we see today came from has been answered, or at least answered as best as possible with available technology. Currently the main theory of the origin of the universe is the Big Bang theory. Although some scientists still dispute this model for the development of the universe, the vast majority of scientists accept it as truth. The Big Bang theory cannot be proven, but it is the theory most consistent with the facts we have about our universe today. HISTORY Although Georges Lemaitre (depicted in Figure 1) first proposed the Big Bang theory itself in the 1920s (“Origins of the Universe”), there has been debate about the creation of the universe since Aristotle was alive. Aristotle argued that the universe had an infinite past, which worried Jewish and Islamic philosophers because this did not fit with their belief in creationism. Many philosophers after Aristotle began to formulate arguments for a universe with a finite past in response to his philosophy. In 1225, Robert Grosseteste became the first person to attempt to describe the universe using a set of physical laws in his article “De Luce” (Lewis). Nearly four hundred years later, John Kepler formulated a new thesis in favor of a finite universe , using the dark night sky as evidence Shortly thereafter, Newton first had the idea of large-scale motion existing in the universe (Wolff In the early 1900s Vesto Slipher and Carl Wirtz both separately observed spiral galaxies). they moved away from Earth. Although they didn't realize the implications, now this... half of the document......load.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c2/Lambda-Cold_Dark_Matter%2C_Accelerated_Expansion_of_the_Universe%2C_Big_Bang- Inflation.jpg/ 800px-Lambda-Cold_Dark_Matter%2C_Accelerated_Expansion_of_the_Universe%2C_Big_Bang-Inflation.jpg>.Figure 7.
