Steve Taylor, a psychiatrist at Psychology Today, says, "It is a dangerous oversimplification to believe that some people are innately 'good' while others are innately 'evil' or 'bad.'" This quote is saying that misunderstanding the difference between good and evil is dangerous. In The Great Gatsby some people mistake Jay Gatsby as good or innocent when it is the opposite. Gatsby's greatest crime is trying to ruin Daisy Buchanan's marriage for selfish reasons. He does everything to make Daisy love him again. Jordan Baker is a rich old golfer who is friends with Daisy. Gatsby asks Jordan to go out to lunch with Nick Carraway, Gatsby's neighbor and Daisy's cousin, to tell him about inviting Daisy to his house so that Gatsby can "drop by" and see her again. Jordan tells Nick, "He wants to know if you'll invite Daisy over one afternoon and then let him come."(78). This is bad on Gatsby's part because instead of telling Daisy what he feels, he makes other people do the work for him. He doesn't give Daisy a chance to avoid him because of his plan...
