Flicking through the glossy pages of a magazine it is easy to notice similar attributes possessed by models. These include long, healthy hair, straight white teeth, high cheekbones, slim bodies and delicate feminine features. One might assume that these traits are common and universally recognized characteristics of beauty, but such an assumption would be wrong. Take China for example: the cultural norm regarding beauty is incredibly different from that of America. Plump, round bodies and cherubic faces are traits of the most desirable Chinese beauty. So what is beauty? The answer all depends on the region, culture or even historical decade you are referring to. Beauty exists within a social scope and includes some common attributes, but if you attempted to define beauty as a universal whole, your efforts would be in vain.
