I'm comparing the work; "Teechers" by John Godber, for the play I recently took part in and helped write; "The victim". The plot of our "The Victim" and "Teachers" I am comparing the comedy; "Teechers" by John Godber, for the play I recently took part in and helped write; "The victim". The plot of our comedy "The Victim" is based on bullying and domestic violence. The main plot is about a young student called Jess who moves to a new area and a new school. She is singled out by other people at school and a group of girls begin to bully her. Her home life isn't much better, though: Jess's mom is a schizophrenic and abuses Jess both verbally and physically. At first Jess deals with the stress, but then it starts to depress her and she considers committing suicide. Bullies continue to torment Jess and a bad prank is the last straw. Jess returns home and tries to find comfort in her mother who rejects her, this leads to her taking an overdose. Although the plot of "Teechers" is very different from that of "TheVictim", the basic setting is quite similar: "Teechers is also set in a school and in modern life. "Teechers" vigorously evokes life in a modern Comprehensive , using the format of an end-of-term play to chart an acting teacher's progress through two terms of recalcitrant classes, cynical colleagues and stonewalling assistants until he leaves for the safer waters of a private school performance runs the gamut of emotions, mainly humor, to portray the main themes of the work. The work to some extent comments on the flaws of the education system: the title itself is a political statement, instead of being written "teachers" it is written ". Teachers", almost a comical dig at the "system" which has failed to teach students correctly. In our show the main themes are bullying, domestic violence and isolation, but references are also made to suicide, illness mental and adaptation. We used these themes because they are things that especially teenagers can experience and therefore the audience could perhaps identify with the show. . By choosing to explore these themes we could also raise awareness of issues such as bullying and domestic violence and help people understand the issues involved. Therefore, by using these themes, we made the show more personal to the audience and more emotional; so they might enjoy the show more and feel more involved. The themes of "Teechers" are very different from the declared ones
