This document will explain how the concepts of the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) apply to the current security situation and how I intend to use these concepts to conduct team building in the office safety scope and across the wing to address the trend of road accidents. Additionally, I will identify the information my team will need to address this trend, the desired goals, and the metrics we will use to reverse it. To begin, it is readily apparent that there is a trend of off-base motor vehicle accidents involving service members and/or their dependents. Using FRLM concepts applied to this situation will be our first step in addressing this problem. The previous approach to curb this trend was unsuccessful. The past approach to combat the surge in incidents was a combination of Laissez-Faire (LF) and Passive Management by Exception (MBE). This was evident in the reactionary approach to the ongoing issue. It is also likely that the injury trend started due to LF's leadership. Since there was no accident tendency before, little or no attention was paid to driving safety at the time, and this probably created less attention to driving safety. To address this issue, I plan to utilize various leadership transformation styles to transform the Wing Safety office into a cohesive and effective team. To begin, it is critically important to use an inspirational motivation (IM) style to create a shared vision for wing safety. By aligning our individual and organizational goals, my team members will better identify with the challenges we face and be willing to put in extra effort to achieve team goals. Lt. Johnson would benefit greatly from the IM approach. Taking the task to heart, with... middle of paper... the aim is to reduce the number of accidents by two thirds over the next year. This means that 15 serious off-site incidents have been reported in the last eight months. Our goal would be to have no more than five incidents in the next twelve months. We understand that zero accidents is our true desired outcome, but our goal should also be realistic and achievable. By setting a target of no more than five incidents this year, when we reach it, we can use this positive momentum to further reduce the number the following year. In conclusion, I analyzed the FRLM concepts applied to this situation, applied the FRLM concepts to conduct team building within the security office, created an action plan showing our problem solving process, including the additional information our team will need, and used goal-setting skills to provide direction toward desired future outcomes.
