The purpose of an antihero is to give readers or audiences another reason to side with the hero. The antihero of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is seen by most audiences as Lord Voldemort and Severus Snape. Voldemort is a clear-cut villain due to his evil actions against Harry and obsessive desire to kill him. The second antihero is the character known as Snape, the professor who always seems to have something to offer Harry. It appears to the audience that he doesn't believe Harry is worthy of the special attention and care that comes with being the Boy Who Lived. Severus Snape constantly berates, cold-feeds, or criticizes Harry. Snape is the common and prevalent antihero because he seems to be the opposite of Harry, always deconstructing and berating
