This is why I see Dante Alighieri as a kind of image of who I want to be. In my opinion he is the greatest dramatic poet of all time. He is best known for his works such as La Divina Commedia (Divine Comedy), Vita Nuova and De Vulgari Eloquentia. He published most of his works in the 14th century and they have stood the test of time, having been translated multiple times into 175 languages. He was named Il Sommo Poeta, which means The Supreme Poet. Furthermore, he was considered the father of the Italian language. Dante Alighieri was born in May/June 1265, to a lower aristocracy, or lower class family, in Florence, Italy. At school he studied mainly Latin poetry, literature and rhetoric.
