The United States is made up of many races, cultures, and a variety of people. This country is also made up of immigrants who migrate from all over the world. Millions of illegal immigrants live in the country and pay taxes even when they are not citizens of the country, but they have no right to vote, go to college, bear arms, or any of the full rights provided by the United States Constitution. For years, immigrants have been coming to the United States to find a “better” life for their families and themselves. Being born in this country is what all illegal immigrants dream of because of the possibilities that could be presented to them. Being an undocumented immigrant does not make it acceptable for human beings to live in a country and be deprived of their rights. In 1808, 50,000 African Americans were the first illegal immigrants brought to the United States. Unfortunately, they did not come voluntarily, but as slaves (Daniels). In 1992, the INS said there were approximately 3.4 million unauthorized residents in the country; in 2007 they said about 7 million unauthorized residents arrived in 2000. Mexico is the largest source of illegal immigrants, of the 8 million illegal aliens, 5.3 million were from Mexico. The upside of having immigrants is that they fill low-wage jobs very quickly; they will do some of the worst jobs just to put food on the table for their family and undocumented immigrants will pay their taxes on time. Some negative events that happen with undocumented immigrants are that they bring an increase in crime among the population. Schools are losing money because they also teach the children of immigrants. All the nation's hospitals offer charity care, causing them to lose money. In today's environment, children come to this country to support their grandparents or older relatives. The estimate is 1.7 million
