In the interview the patient reiterated the known symptoms regarding the “witch witch” and the voices in his mind. The patient was then asked to rate his certainty of believing in a given delusion on a percentage-based scale, where 100 indicated the belief was completely valid and 0 was completely certain of its invalidity. Based on previous effective research, Dr. Alford selected the ABAB experimental method to test the patient's “strength of belief” in baseline conditions and treatment stages. Over the course of the experiment, the patient was provided with a log in which he reported both how often he experienced the noted delusions and how confident he was in their validity (using the 0-100 scale).
