A role model. When you hear this word many people think of something or someone that has had a positive impact on their life. In my opinion, a perfect example of a role model is Oprah Winfrey. She is an African American who is not only a symbol for black people everywhere, but a symbol for all people. The Academy of Achievement has called Oprah Winfrey one of the most successful and admirable women in America. She is a woman who many people across America trust, respect and admire. His ability to capture the hearts of many has distinguished his role in today's society. Oprah lived a difficult childhood, received an excellent education and received numerous awards and recognition. Her efforts in providing and giving back to America and other parts of the world have earned her the title of one of the most influential people in the world. Oprah Gail Winfrey was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. She was born into a family that didn't have much money but still managed to make ends meet. She was originally named Orpah Gail Winfrey after one of the people from the biblical books of Ruth. It was changed due to the difficulty people had pronouncing his name, so the d and p were reversed. His mother is Vernita Lee and his father is Vernon Winfrey. For part of his life he also lived with his grandmother Hattie Mae. While living with her grandmother she was able to learn to read before the age of three. When he could read he was in front of the church reciting Bible verses and giving speeches. At the age of six she moved to her grandmother in the city where she was raped by her own flesh and blood. Although she lived a hard life, she was still able to support herself... middle of paper... I wish I could be. It is not his wealth that I appreciate, but his sincerity and love towards people. I appreciate many things in life that I believe are the same values and beliefs I present myself with. His kindness has encouraged me to be kinder to others, to lend a hand or shoulder when I need it. Oprah Winfrey is an honorable woman. He worked so hard to be where he is today. Her compassion in standing up for what she believes in shows how much of a woman she is. She is our voice, our thoughts and our inspiration. So, as Oprah said "We cannot become what we need while remaining what we are." Likewise, all those people out there who know they can also make a difference in the world, be all that you can be and never settle for less than what you know is not your best. Be able to take risks and chances because you never know if it will lead you to the path to success.
