Topic > Consequences of Authoritarian Parenting - 854

The complex exchange between parents and adolescence offers the prospect of regularly influencing the child. Parenting styles are a critical part of a child's mental health and behavior. Parenting refers to parents' actions and reactions towards their child, including expectations, beliefs, and values. Diana Baumrind (1971, 1991), psychologist, bases parenting on two aspects including control and warmth. Baumrind used the combination of these aspects in different ways to identify the four parenting styles used today, consisting of authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved parenting. Authoritarian parenting, the most severe parenting style, is the method in which parents show little warmth and are highly controlling. These parents are disciplinarians who use restrictive and punitive styles. They insist that the teenager follow the parents' directions, rules and standards, which are not objectionable to the teenager. Parenting has been shown to influence child mental health (Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 2008; TVO Parents, 2013; Borkowski, 2000; Pickhardt, 2010; Maccoby, 1983). Furthermore, based on extensive research, children with authoritarian parents have been found to exhibit similar patterns of behavior and mental health (Bierman & Smoot, 1991; Casas et al., 2006; Hart et al., 1998; Dekovic & Janssens, 1992 ; Kopko , 2007; Authoritarian parental approach to raising children negatively affects children's mental health and behavior. (Thesis or not) The role of parents towards the child is vital (Royal Canadian Mounted Police, 2008; TVO Parents, 2013; Borkowski, 2000; Pickhardt, 2010; Maccoby, 1983). have disruptive behavior, become rebellious, have low self-confidence and are dependent on others. The research conducted on this topic clearly demonstrates that authoritarian parenting is not the best path to take when parenting. It has clear consequences that will harm you unconsciously the child. Various references have been made to many who have studied the subject. The thesis has been proven; however, to strengthen the research, statistics and primary research can be used. Additionally, you can research the results of the other three parenting styles. This will give readers a chance to compare the authoritative parenting style to other parenting styles. All in all, due to parental influences, authoritarian parenting raises the child with negative outcomes regarding mental health and behavior..
