WEBIOGRAPHYWhen I signed up for this course, I knew it would be interesting but I didn't know what to expect regarding the writing assignment. Ancient history is something I have never taught and will interest me until I start watching the history channel, even though it is a prerequisite for a degree course, I have always had an interest in learning more about this course and one thing I have noticed while watching the history channel is that it has a connection to the Bible. For this assignment, I will write about; the Egyptian pyramid, the Greek gods and the Nile River. I chose these three topics because they date back to ancient history and will be a perfect match for this course (HIST 134). The Egyptian Pyramid“A pyramid is a monumental structure with a square or triangular base and sloping sides that meet at a point at the top, esp. one built of stone as a royal tomb in ancient Egypt.” (Online Dictionary.com) According to research, Egypt was found to have 138 pyramids in 2008. These pyramids were built years ago, in the times of Pharaoh and were built on the west bank of the Nile. It took up to 100,000 years to complete the construction of the pyramids. Egypt is known for its great pyramids, including the Great Pyramid of Giza, which has the largest pyramid of all and is located in the northern part of the Giza Plateau and is one of the Seven Great Wonders of the Ancient World. The three largest pyramids are; the pyramid of Menkaure, the pyramid of Khafre, the pyramid of Cheops. These pyramids are known to be the largest pyramid in the world. The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped structures, located in Egypt. Research explains that the shape of the pyramids ri...medium of paper......comes from the reeds that grow along the banks of the Nile River. The Nile River had a god called Hapi, when it overflowed, the Egyptians thanked the god for bringing fertile soil. I searched www.utdallas.edu/geosciences/remsens/nile/ for information and articles on the Nile River. I thought the site was very informative and accurate, it placed importance on the river both to the Egyptians and it also played an important role in African history and the history of the ancient world. In conclusion, I chose the above topics because they date back to the beginning and antiquity, and since this lesson is about knowing what happened in the (ancient) past, I thought the topics would be very suitable for this lesson.
