Self-evaluation is a process in which you examine yourself in an effort to discover and learn more about yourself. During this process you can find your likes, dislikes, behaviors, attitudes and habits. You can use discoveries to your advantage by accepting or modifying strengths and weaknesses. I intend to use this course to improve my personal skills to become a better student and find success in achieving my Bachelor of Social Sciences at Ashford University. Self-evaluation is the first step towards my successful future. I remember in high school it seemed like I was always one of the last students to finish a test. Sometimes I was slower to complete a written document or assignment. In open discussions about the material we had just read, things didn't stick with me after reading to feel confident in raising my hand and being active in the discussions. I would have to search my memory for answers for some time. Sometimes responses were simply not retrieved at all. I often felt frustrated at school and eventually developed a negative attitude towards school. I struggled with this a lot because I knew I could do better. Every day I set myself up for failure because I lacked the tools and strategies I needed to succeed in school. Sure, I got away with it, but I could have been a much better student. I got low Bs and Cs, but I should have been A. If I was completely interested in the topic there was definitely a difference in what I was understanding. If there was no interest, I would put it off and procrastinate until the last minute. Procrastination got me nowhere but stressed. I have to deal with things immediately, without putting it off. I normally do this, but I ALWAYS have to...... middle of the paper ......ff to eliminate the breaks. I'm pretty confident that I have a great situation here to be successful with my schoolwork. My goals are my main priority: to seek a better tomorrow. Writing this article was rewarding for me. It helped me get to know a different me. I set goals for myself and they have helped me put things into perspective. Now I understand my styles and behaviors better. Too bad I didn't take this course earlier in life. Understanding myself will help me understand other people better, I think. This will be useful considering the profession I intend to pursue. I fully realize that I will never be the smartest or the fastest. I will accept the fact that I will be the best me that I can be. I will do my best to succeed. I will be a positive influence for my children, I will make my mother proud, and I will make my husband eat his words.
