Dickenson's "For I Could Not Stop for Death" is the most compelling in the way Dickenson approaches death. There is a sense of peace and tranquility in his poetry. He does not fear death, he embraces what is new and imminent in his death. Donnie's "Death Be Not Proud" is very similar to Dickenson. Donnie is not afraid of death and embraces the idea of death. For Dickenson, reminiscence gives a calmer and more peaceful idea of death. Thomas shows death a struggle and a fight. Although Donnie ultimately accepts death, it is not a peaceful acceptance of death. The three poems overlap in similarities but each have a different tone in how they talk about death and dying. While Dickenson and Donnie have an optimistic outlook, Thomas has a pessimistic approach
