It is better to have happiness in this life or happiness in eternity. This is the great mystery, because if Eternities exist, and life after death exists, then our mortal life on Earth will be short, but if death is truly the end, then the Aristotelian one is the way to go. I find myself believing in both of these great philosophers. Why can't we experience short-term and long-term happiness? Do we gain happiness by turning the other cheek? Not in this life. We cannot live happily in this life if we give our cloak and shirt to those who try to steal only our shirt. I argue that many of Jesus' teachings were very open to interpretation, yet the majority of Christians have chosen a single interpretation and left it at that. So even if we aim for the average or the extreme, we manage to balance them and I believe we can get the truth
