Throughout history, many sociological issues have become relevant across Canada. These problems and their effects on society are part of the reason things are the way they are today. This research paper examines one of the most controversial sociological issues in all of history: abortion. To begin, a brief history of abortion in Canada is provided. From there, he discusses and analyzes the many laws or lack thereof regarding abortion in Canada. By analyzing the laws and legislation put in place by the Canadian government, it is easy to see how people can take different positions on this topic. Throughout the first section, women's rights regarding birth and their bodies are also discussed. Secondly, this research paper examines the stigma surrounding abortion and how this has evolved over the years. By examining how people view abortion, it is easier to understand this controversy and why this is such an important issue in Canadian society today. Additionally, we are able to examine the factors that cause such stigma to still be present, such as religion. The next section outlines the services and programs available in Canada to Canadian women. These services may not only represent a bias in the healthcare community, but also show a correlation between women's distance from abortion clinics and the number of abortions per year. Next, this essay examines the political discourse on abortion and the multiple attempts that have been made to change abortion laws in Canada. Finally, one of the most important sections of this essay discusses the great impact that abortion and conflicts over abortion have on society.
