Organic farming is defined on http://en.wikipedia.org as “It is a form of agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, green manure , compost, and biological pest control”. In organic farming, no chemicals are used or very limited types and quantities of agents are used. For thousands of years, people used natural growing methods until new chemical growing techniques were invented in the early 20th century. The innovations have brought magnificent agricultural benefits such as sharp increases in the quantity of production, increase in crop variety, etc. But, in addition to the benefits, serious problems have also emerged. In this essay, organic and non-organic farming will be compared and contrasted in the sense of cultivation methods in practice, advantages-disadvantages and differences between Turkey and European countries.
