My grandmother's daily routine consists of waking up every morning at 5 am, boiling hot water to take a shower, after which she starts feeding the animals that has on the farm, like chickens, turkeys, dogs. Start preparing breakfast for my grandfather before he goes out to camp. After he leaves, she starts thinking about what she will make for lunch when my grandfather comes back, and she said that if she doesn't have the ingredients she usually goes to the other side of the city and takes a taxi to the market and buy the necessary things. When he arrives home, he prepares lunch and dinner and starts doing daily chores such as cleaning the house or doing laundry. At the end of the evening she and my grandfather drink coffee, eat homemade bread and just talk and usually one of her children calls her from the United States to find out how they are doing. Calls usually last about 2 hours, after hanging up he gets ready for bed, and they usually go to bed between 9pm and 10pm. My grandmother said that as she got older, things changed, she had fewer responsibilities to take care of, she didn't have to worry as much about her children as she did when she was younger: feeding them, washing them, making sure their clothes were still on. good condition. She only belongs to a few organizations, but for her the most important ones would be the church organization and the city council organization. Religion wasn't something she was very interested in as a child, but she said that as she got older and her children left to have families of their own, she began to have more interest in the church as she started having health problems. They don't use any technology because in the city they live in, technology is way behind... half the paper... any day. She has no medical insurance and goes to doctors when she can afford it, so my father usually sends her money so she can go to doctors and get checked at least once a month. My grandmother is still married to my grandfather and sees my uncle and his family very often because they live only 20 minutes away. Most of his siblings are dead and his nieces and nephews all live in the United States. My grandmother isn't usually the one to turn to anyone if she ever needs something, she feels like it would be a nuisance for any of us. Every day I remind my grandmother that she will never be a bother to us, and we would like it if she asked us for help when she needs it because even though she is a strong woman, sometimes she needs help with certain things. During this case study, I learn more and more about my grandmother as I talk to her.
