The Parable - The Doorman The parable is simple and direct. It foreshadows K's death. But that's not all he does. The doorman character is the interesting one. It is made up of all the characters K has interacted with and who have anything to do with his case. The doorman is a mixture of the guards, the commissioner, the washerwoman, the district judge, the lawyer and the two men who kill him. The story is an easy homage. He tells K what happened in the past and what will happen to him next. The story and its content itself are not that important, you know how the plot of the novel will end, almost from the beginning. The importance lies in the discussion that K has with the priest. The story was a simple and poetic way to summarize the entire novel. The main part of the story that is worth seeing and discussing is the multiple character of the guardian. The first doorman character you see is the guardians. When the man goes to the courthouse, he meets the doorman. The doorman doesn't allow him to enter. This is reminiscent of the way K was treated by the guards when he tried to find out his accusation. The act of refusing entry into the Chamber of Justice can be regarded as the incarceration to which K was subjected. Although, apparently, the greater role in preventing entry into the Chamber of Justice can be compared to judges. When the doorman says that perhaps K can come in later, he reminds the inspector. He tries to act like K's friend and gives him no comfort by saying he knows nothing. The inspector says he knows nothing about the man's accusation and is probably the only one who is on his side. The doorman never tells the man, but the man finds his only friend in the doorman. The attitude of the doorman, who seems small but the boys after him become bigger and worse, recalls the way in which the washerwoman talks about the judge. The way he says this judge is quite nice and it's not worth taking them all, so the doorman talks about the doormen who will succeed him. The small interludes in which the doorman converses with him are reminiscent of the lawyer's special attitude towards K. Even though the conversations were short, they showed that the doorman was not made of stone and that there was a certain emotion behind the system. that's pretty much what the lawyer is there for. doesn't really do any good work for K, but tries to make him feel better. When the guardian closes the door, he evidently remembers one of the two murderers. The way the guardian approaches the dying man and tells him that he will now close the door meant for him. Just like the two men, they get close, don't talk too much and eventually kill him. The man who comes to ask for justice still remembers Block. He is too meek and submissive. It doesn't match K's strong, arrogant and brash behavior.
